A Quick Bite

June 19, 2010

After strolling Iowa State’s picturesque campus and a delightful visit to the surprisingly well-appointed Farm House Museum, we stopped in to Stomping Grounds Café for a mid-afternoon snack.  The cafe is known for its crepes, both savory and sweet, and we were not disappointed by the Banana Nutella Crepe.  Admittedly, even an old shoe smeared with Nutella would probably taste good, but these crepes deserve some extra acclaim.  Their texture was light, tender, and airy — the perfect complement to the rich, creamy filling.  The bananas were sliced appropriately thinly, and the balance of crepe to filling was just right.  You might think the powdered sugar was overkill, but no, that finishing touch brought the whole dessert together.
